Hey guys, I’m very proud of the way this recording session came together and I wanted to share with you how it came about. I’ve ALWAYS wanted to record a song LIVE, with all of the players in the room, blowing, strumming, hitting, singing simultaneously, just like musicians & recording artists did it back in the Motown era. With the help of some immensely talented friends, we were able to accomplish just that!!…After getting his hands on a Red Epic Camera, my friend Keith Rivers (who directed the video) said why don’t we shoot this session? We recorded this version of “Self Control” at-SoundQuest Recording, the same studio we recorded my recent album Let’s Get To What’s Real. From the inception of this idea, to the last minute of filming & recording, this only took 48 hours to put together.”

This Gondry-esque video for Aussie band Gotye beautifully mixes stop-motion animation and live action to tell a narrative about the soul-crushing monotony of the daily work grind. Melbourne-based directorDarcy Pendergast uses a “360 pan motion control rig” to create the incredible rotating rooms effect and some mind-blowing animation / multiplication.
